Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. Ari Lennox continued uploading her music online as well as her own single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had hired with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to appear on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was later released in September. In November, she dropped her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November two singles titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
